Case Studies: Not-for-Profit Foundation
Client: Solomon Foundation
Industry: providing grants to community based organizations
The Foundation’s challenge was to organize and communicate the details of hundreds of grant proposals to their board members. The administrative staff had used FileMaker Pro since version 3 (c.1995) to generate printed reports. Board members would receive meeting agendas and proposal material by mail to prpare for the next meeting.
London Net Studio was asked to update their FileMaker solution for compatibility with Windows Vista operating system. Upgrading to FileMaker Pro 8.6 not only provided OS compatibility, but also the opportunity to use FileMaker’s native support for generating PDF documents combined with FileMaker Server Advanced’s Instant web Publishing (IWP).
This allowed foundation staff to use a familiar tool, that they had been working for over 10 years, to maintain a secure FileMaker driven web site. The result has enabled board members to access agendas, supporting materials including 2 page summaries of every proposal under consideration for the coming board meeting.
